Banggai, 13 June 2026 – In commemoration of World Environment Day, PT Panca Amara Utama (PAU), a subsidiary of ESSA Group, collaborated with Banggai Corallium (Environmental Community) to carry out a coral reef restoration and coastal cleanup initiative in the waters of Tanjung Tuwis, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi. The program reflects PAU’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship while demonstrating the importance of collaboration in protecting marine ecosystems for future generations.
The initiative brought together a diverse range of stakeholders, including the Banggai Regency Environmental Office, local government represetative, students of Universitas Tompotika (UNTIKA) and SD Inpres Kilo 8, youth groups, local communities, and PAU employees.
Habibi Rahmawan, HSE Manager of PT Panca Amara Utama, “This is one of our tangible efforts to protect nature, especially the ocean, through coral reef restoration activities. Through the actions we take today, we hope to see more sustainable marine ecosystems in the years to come,” he said.
Through this collective effort, participants contributed not only to restoring coral reefs but also to strengthening environmental awareness and shared responsibility for coastal conservation.

The participants have successfully collected 191.2 kilograms of waste from the coastal area. Following the cleanup, participants joined an educational session led by Banggai Corallium, where they learned about the importance of coral reefs, their role in supporting marine biodiversity, and the techniques used in coral transplantation.
As part of the restoration effort, participants prepared and attached coral fragments to restoration structures before they were deployed into the waters of Tanjung Tuwis. In total, 15 coral restoration structures carrying 300 coral fragments were successfully installed as part of the initiative. The transplanted corals are expected to contribute to the recovery of marine habitats, support biodiversity, and strengthen the resilience of coastal ecosystems over time.
The success of this initiative demonstrates that when people come together with a shared purpose, meaningful change can truly take root beneath the waves
The Banggai Regency Environmental Office expressed appreciation for PAU’s consistent contribution to environmental conservation programs in the region. The activity further reinforces the value of collaboration among government institutions, private sector organizations, community groups, educational institutions, and local residents in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.
For PAU, coral reef restoration is not merely an environmental activit, it is an investment in the future of coastal communities and marine ecosystems. Healthy coral reefs provide habitats for marine life, protect coastlines, and contribute to the livelihoods of communities that depend on the sea.
As PAU continues its sustainability journey, the company remains committed to creating meaningful environmental impact through collaboration, education, and community engagement.
